Smith is an industry veteran, starting his first mortgage company in 1995, which he grew to 1.5 billion in annual production prior to selling the company to a private equity firm in 2006.
Smith went on to lead the Firm that had purchased ten mortgage companies through the great recession and mortgage crisis, emerging on the other side larger and profitable.
After leaving the Firm, OnPoint Community Credit Union asked Smith to launch their Internal Mortgage Department. Within two years, the institution was one of the largest funders of mortgage loans in the Portland Metro Area and remains in the top 5 today.
Following Smith’s success at OnPoint, he began purchasing distressed mortgages and executing private loans. This activity inspired the initial launch of his first mortgage fund.
Today Smith and his team manage approximately 60 million of private capital for real estate lending and is the Division Director of Portfolio Lending at Geneva Financial.
