Geneva Gives’ Hero Of The Year Finalist, Pam McAdoo-Rogers
Meet our fourth Hero Of The Year Finalists, Pam McAdoo-Rogers. A 32-year veteran officer and now Captain of the Greensboro police force is a pillar of this North Carolina community.
Involved in numerous impactful community projects such as the Citizens Advisory Council, Operation PASS, Operation Yuletide, and Coffee with a Cop, McAdoo-Rogers is particularly passionate in her work advocating for and assisting refugee children in the community.
Inspired to serve by a police officer who made an impact on her in the housing development where she grew up, Pam knew what her life’s work would be.
McAdoo-Rogers has been awarded the Guilford Merchants Association Commendation Bar Award in 2018, Guilford Merchants Association Distinguished Service Award in 2015, The North State Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award in 2009, and The Greensboro Convention and Visitors Bureau Award in 2000.

Please describe what makes this individual a TRUE hero:: The hero that I am nominating from my community that has made significant impacts through her charitable work, leadership, and pure inspiration is Greensboro Police Department’s Captain Pam McAdoo Rogers.
Pam has served the City of Greensboro as a police officer for the past 32+ years, during which time she continuously shows ongoing initiative and devotes herself to sustained and selfless voluntary and community service. Pam is a woman of inspiration that has overcome adversity and continuously inspires and helps others by advocating for causes, supporting and uplifting women, and helping to improve the quality of life for many others. She displays a strong passion for helping those that are undeserved. Pam regularly displays outstanding leadership abilities and tireless efforts in addressing and raising awareness about important issues within the community, particularly in low income and refugee communities. She has been involved in numerous impactful community projects such as the Citizens Advisory Council, Operation PASS, Operation Yuletide, and Coffee with a Cop. Those connections and so many others that Pam has nurtured over the years has opened doors for other great projects as her ability to connect people with similar goals and visions has created new partnerships throughout the City of Greensboro and surrounding communities. Pam has earned the respect of her peers, and has become a highly respected role model within the community. Pam is an extraordinary woman that emphasizes honesty, values input, and is driven to enrich the lives of others. She has a passion for helping others to advance not only personally, but also professionally. She is truly a Pillar of this Community!
Please describe how this individual has impacted the lives and community around them:: As a lifelong resident of Greensboro, she was most influenced to serve her community by a former Greensboro Police Officer who made an impact on her in the housing development where she grew up. It was then that she knew when she grew up; she too wanted to give back and make an impact on the citizens of Greensboro, not only as a police officer, but also as a teacher, mentor, coach, and role model, to fulfill her purpose in life by serving others.
Pam is universally respected throughout the community. She is reliable, decent, and extremely hard-working. Pam is more of a giver than a taker and she doesn’t hesitate to engage in volunteer work and worthy causes focused on building a stronger community. Her initiatives have demonstrated lasting results and impacted many. Her personal and professional contributions continue to have significant impacts not only in the community, but also in the lives of so many individuals, children and families. Pam is a highly dedicated and well-rounded individual who displays the highest work ethic. She clearly exemplifies the virtue of good citizenship. She goes over and above simply volunteering as she is a constant resource for new officers by providing mentorship and guidance to new recruits and colleagues alike. Her dedication, leadership, commitment, integrity, courage, and achievements are nothing short of impressive.
Pam is a remarkable human being. She has been awarded the Guilford Merchants Association Commendation Bar Award in 2018, Guilford Merchants Association Distinguished Service Award in 2015, The North State Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award in 2009, and The Greensboro Convention and Visitors Bureau Award in 2000. She is a devoted wife and mother of 3 biological children, she has stepped up to the plate to care for her family members children in their times of need, and she is a foster parent. Pam is also a dedicated member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority INC. In her spare time, she spends time with her family, facilitates and attends community outreach events, attends church, and maintains her garden.
The cause that stands out to me the most which Pam wholeheartedly champions is advocating for and assisting refugee children and families. She continues to advocate and do whatever it takes to ensure refugee children grow up healthy, educated and safe. She is committed to helping them survive, and thrive, and also encourages peers and community members to follow her lead. Pam's heart is ingrained with an eagerness to enrich our community; she is without a doubt one of those people who make the world a better place to be in.
