Meet our fifth Hero Of The Year Finalists, Nathaniel Perry. A happy-go-lucky 13 year old who came into this world with more than his fair share of obstacles.
Having already undergone multiple surgeries for a rare condition, he faces another one ahead. Nathaniel is also autistic.
When faced with bullying over his conditions, Nathaniel has chosen to take the high road and tries to befriend the peers who berate his differences.
Nathaniel’s family has been a rock of support and has endured much through his multiple procedures. The Hero Of The Year Grant would be a welcome reprieve.

Please describe what makes this individual a TRUE hero:: Nathaniel is a 13 yr old, who since birth has overcome many obstacles. Nathan was diagnosed with segmental dismotility of the colon and has undergone several surgeries, Nathan also is autistic. Everything that he has faced and is still facing, he will be having yet again another surgery soon. He remains positive. He is a very sweet boy and will help anyone he can, having this life long illness takes a toll on him as it would with anyone, but he doesn’t let it stop him. Nathan has encounter numerous kids , let’s face it kids are cruel, he has been bullied for years over his illness. And all he does is try to friend them. I’m super proud of what a great young man he has become. He deserves everything he sets his mind to.
