Small Inspirations at Home

"If you want to be happy, do not dwell in the past, do not worry about the future, focus on living fully in the present." Roy T Bennett, The Light in the Heart.

Whether you are selling your home or settling into a new home, it is the small things that matter.

When you put your home up for sale, your realtor will tell you to declutter and take down family pictures so buyers can see themselves in your house.  Use the small inspirational things that all people connect with, a vase of fresh flowers, or fresh baked cookies in a jar with a note to "Help Yourself".

When you are moving into a new home, or redecorating your home of many years, it is often hard to try something new. When we bring our old 'stuff' into the new home, it may not fit the same or look the same. Be prepared to pare down what is not needed. Again stick with small things that touch your heart and make you feel at home. Take your time putting things on the walls until you are sure you need them. If you are redecorating it is often hard to take away the old and think about the new. It truly does not need to be 'new' but 'new' ideas and ways to feel at home in your old home.  Refreshing new pillows on couches and chairs, rearranging furniture and swapping out pictures on the wall.  Never forget the flowers.
